Law Review: Annual Symposium

Save the Date

The Charlotte Law Review hosts an annual symposium in the spring to provide a forum for discussion on a legal topic with both local and national importance. This year's Spring Symposium, entitled "Land Use and Energy Generation in the Modern World," will be held on February 26, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Booth Playhouse, 130 North Tryon Street in Charlotte. Former Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham will serve as keynote speaker for the event. Abraham, a former United States Senator from Michigan, served as the tenth United States Secretary of Energy under President George W. Bush from 2004 to 2005.

Environmental and energy policy issues are of increasing significance to Charlotte as it carries out its initiative to become a regional energy hub. The symposium will feature a variety of speakers with diverse backgrounds in order to capture the many issues surrounding land use and energy generation, including recent advances in energy generation in a carbon constrained world, and the impact of brownfields and CERCLA on land use and development.
